Khemia has been absolutely blown away by the quantity and quality of submissions to our first ever Commission Contest. First, a sincere thanks to each applicant for taking the time to apply and express interest in working with Khemia. We find the process of collaboration and building relationships with composers to be so integral to our work and through this contest—we’ve discovered many incredible voices we hope to work with in the future.
We received 504 applications and had the nearly impossible task of selecting one winner. So impossible, that we decided to award a commission to two composers, each of whom will each receive a $2,000 commissioning fee and a $750 travel stipend to attend the world premiere.
Congratulations to Bobby Ge & Florence Maunders! We also would like to extend an honorable mention to Erin Busch who we plan to program on an upcoming season!
Applications closed.
